We are currently seeking a Boiler Service Technician. 

Boiler Service Technician

As a Boiler Service Technician you will have daily interactions with onsite (field) personnel including engineers, contractors, stakeholders and other technicians. Assessing the proper installation of newly installed equipment and performing factory authorized startup and commissioning. You will also be responsible for the repair and troubleshooting of equipment sold by Taft Engineering, Inc. and honoring preventative maintenance contracts. Representing industry leading, innovative manufacturers you will have the ability to stay on top of the most recent trends and work with our sales and support team on servicing our customers.  

Job Duties:

  • Provide accurate field assessments of newly installed equipment to ensure compliance with local code and manufacturers’ recommended installation guidelines
  • Perform factory authorized startup on newly installed equipment and submit required documentation
  • Provide short technical trainings for onsite personnel on the newly installed equipment
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment supported by Taft
  • Perform preventative maintenance on equipment supported by Taft
  • Work with installing contractors (mechanical, plumbing, electrical and controls) to answer installation questions prior to startup and help facilitate resolution as needed
  • Work closely with the inside sales team and product support team to review construction documents as necessary to assure proper application of equipment sold by Taft
  • Complete jobsite walkthroughs to include documentation of existing equipment, measurements and drawings to assist in retrofit opportunities

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma, or greater
  • Ability to work from and with electrical schematics, drawings, plans or specifications
  • Possess hands-on skills and knowledge to complete required repairs and maintenance on commercial HVAC systems (boilers, burners, water heaters, motors, automation/controls systems, and associated electrical systems)
  • Ability to effectively use computers and computer programs
  • Possess excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to effectively manage various relationships with team members, contractors, clients, and customers
  • Effective troubleshooter; ability to work through issues as they arise understanding that every setting is new and different
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service
  • Regional overnight travel: 10%-15%
  • Valid Driver’s License, clean driving record and ability to pass a criminal background check
